There is a common saying that the diamonds are forever but converting that saying into diamond wells are forever. Here is a bit detail of the city Kimberley which you should know before planning a tour to it.  This city was established in the late 1800s after the diamonds were discovered from here and it also is famous for surviving the Anglo-Boer war and is regarded to be one of the most beautiful places in the country where it belongs. However, for the purpose of visiting Kimberley, there is something more than cruise tours:

-    Big Hole

Simply about the history of the big hole, in about 1866 there was a 15 year old boy who was named as Erasmus Jacobs who picked up a pebble and later on somehow that pebble reached to DR. A. A place worth visiting in Kimberley is the SOL PLAATJE MUSEUM there which is the center of attraction for most of the tourists who visit the Kimberley.  There was a writer basically and he was an activist too named Sol Plaatje who had written the first novel been written by a black South African. His house after his death was turned into a museum which now is worth seeing.

-    Dead Memorial

During the Anglo Boer War, Kimberley actually was besieged and some of the residents while making an effort to protect their city actually died. Cecil John who is one of the famous diamond moguls in that country and most probably the first one to do so has commissioned Sir Herbert Bake so that he could design a memorial to pay gratitude to the martyrs of the city. This memorial was actually formed in the year 1904 which was basically accompanied by a sand monument at that time.

-    Humphreys Art Gallery
